Groth Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 Wine Review

A classy Napa Cab that will benefit from decanting or further bottle age.

Groth Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

The Full Review

This is an elegant and complex Napa Cab, brimming with ripe blackcurrant and black cherry notes, and flashes of flint. With 22 months of oak barrel aging, it’s rich in sweet baking spice and vanilla aromas. Tannins are slightly chewy, and at present, the wine is quite tight and requires significant time to open up. If you’re planning to drink now, a decanter is essential, but a few more years of bottle age would be ideal. Nevertheless, this wine’s undeniable class shines through.
